GIVE THE JANUARY BLUES A ROSY TINT BY VOLUNTEERING TO HELP OTHERS

As 21 January - labelled the most depressing day of the year - hits, the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) and Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) are calling on people throughout Wales to give Blue Monday a rosy glow by volunteering their time at a local community group or charity. Wrth i ni gyrraedd 21 Ionawr - sy'n adnabyddus fel diwrnod diflasaf y flwyddyn, mae'r Gronfa Loteri Fawr a Chyngor Gweithredu Gwirfoddol Cymru (WCVA) yn galw ar bobl ar draws Cymru i leddfu Llun y Felan trwy wirfoddoli eu hamser mewn grŵp cymunedol neu elusen leol.

As well as making a difference to others, Big Lottery Fund (BIG) research* has found that volunteering can help to increase skills, confidence and self-esteem - a welcome antidote to the January blues. That’s why BIG has teamed up with WCVA to encourage more people to volunteer and shake off their post-Christmas blues. As the umbrella body for the voluntary sector in Wales, WCVA represents, and has links with, thousands of voluntary organisations throughout the country.

Yn ogystal â gwneud gwahaniaeth i bobl eraill, dengys ymchwil y Gronfa Loteri Fawr y gall gwirfoddoli helpu i gynyddu sgiliau, hyder a hunan-barch - ymateb pendant i felan mis Ionawr. Dyna pam mae'r Gronfa Loteri Fawr a WCVA wedi dod ynghyd i annog mwy o bobl i wirfoddoli i gael gwared ar ddiflastod yn sgil y Nadolig. Mae WCVA, sy'n gorff mantell ar gyfer y sector gwirfoddol yng Nghymru, yn cynrychioli ac yn creu cysylltiadau â miloedd o fudiadau gwirfoddol ym mhob cwr o'r wlad.
