Thank you

New £2.5m Skills & Opportunities Fund

We thought you might like to know about our new Skills & Opportunities Fund which will launch on Monday 11 May. We are very excited to be able to tell you about this fund which will be open for applications for grants up to £35,000 from charities, social enterprises, community groups, state-funded schools and colleges based in the UK and Ireland from 11-22 May 2015.

We know that making a difference in our communities is often about helping people help themselves.  And our new fund will provide £2.5m to fund projects aimed at helping people to learn new skills, get into work or start a business.

By supporting the priceless work that not-for-profit organisations carry out, we know that we can help even more people to help themselves and grow stronger communities.

We are busy getting our new website ready which will tell you more about the fund, but in the meantime, we would ask that you register your details and we will let you know as soon as our fund opens for applications.  Also, if you know of others that might be interested then please share this with your networks and get them to register their interest.

We look forward to telling you more about the Skills & Opportunities Fund when it opens on Monday 11 May.

Our progress

We set ourselves three targets for the end of 2015, to help and support:

  • 100,000 young people to explore enterprise, develop their skills & start up in business, whatever their background
  • 20,000 women to explore and unlock their enterprise potential
  • 2,500 social enterprises working in partnership with the sector to improve access to expertise, markets and finance.

74,634 young people, 21,195 women and 4,279 social enterprises have been supported and we have invested a total of £12,400,982 which includes both financial and in-kind investment into the sector.

That’s over 95,000 people supported of our 120,000 combined Youth and Women’s target.  This investment has also resulted in over 1500 new businesses being created, a fantastic achievement from all involved.
