The SHARE Centre hosted a joint Climate Week and Fairtrade Fortnight Information and Education Open Day on the 4th March.

The event, with stands manned by Fare Share Cymru, Kaleidoscope and many other worthwhile projects, also saw a potato growing demonstration by Sam Holt - a Renew Wales Mentor.

Sam demonstrated the 3 stage system to students from the local St Woolos Primary School, who will be participating in the potato growing project, culminating in a potato party in June. The party will see the results of the project and help build awareness of the growing scheme, encouraging others to grow their own produce.

Sam explained the aims of the project, saying "This project will see more people growing their own potatoes, in turn gaining knowledge and spreading the word, encouraging more people to get outdoors and grow - giving more community access to free fresh foods"

The info and open day organiser and Renew Wales Coordinator, Nina Finnigan explained that the event was placed perfectly in Fair Trade Fortnight and Climate Week, bringing like minded organisations together, raising awareness for the SHARE Centre and educating the future generation.
