I was one of the founders of Ynni Sir Gar/ Carmarthenshire Energy Ltd (CEL) and Trydani/ Charge Place Wales Ltd (ChargeplaceWales.org). My passion for energy efficiency and renewables has led me to drive electric cars since 2012, covering 120,000 miles the length and breadth of England and Wales. I frequently contributes to events and broadcasts about EVs and I have advised the “Senedd Economy and Advisory Committee” to adopt EVs as a priority and show leadership.
I was a nominee as Cynnal Cymru’s “Sustainability Champion” a few years ago.
What attracts you to this type of work?
I was one of the original co-ordinators for Renew Wales and worked as a Mentor and co-ordinator with a range of community initiatives. Energy efficiency, renewable energy and electric vehicles are strengths. But I have also worked with community groups raising awareness of climate change action. The One Planet Council, Pontyberem Community Council and the award winning Incredible Edibles Carmarthenshire are some examples.
What is your vision for your area by 2050?
Zero carbon with massively increased biodiversity.
Local businesses providing jobs and locally produced food and energy in a circular economy.
Shared electric bikes, active travel and electrified public transport,
Nutritious organic vegetables being grown with the communities they serve.
